  • Source: Tanned and finished in Wisconsin by Gallun Leathers
  • Hide Origin: Wild boar, full sides of US origin
  • Thickness: 6 ounces
  • Grain: Unique grain and extreme pore pattern

All our leather is made from the hides of invasive wild boar that were trapped or hunted in the south and southwest of the United States. These hides are combination tanned in Tennessee to produce a material that has the ideal balance of density and weather resistance.

We sell three colors of leather and they're made two different ways: Cognac and Black are the full grain "Jabari" version that retains the outer layer of the animal's skin, so it's smooth while also exhibiting the most scarring and character from the animal's life.

The Waxy Boar tannage we use for the Chocolate leather is a little softer to the touch because it’s been slightly buffed, exposing more skin fibers. Gallun Leathers uses sandpaper to remove a tiny part of the skin’s outer layer before rolling several layers of wax onto it.

In short: the Chocolate leather shows a bit less scarring and actually looks more textured and "worn in" when it's new.

All our leathers are equally durable — and yours will be 100 percent unique.

  • Full grain U.S. feral swine leather (6 oz.)

Wild Boar Leather

All of our products are made from the hides of invasive wild boar trapped in the Southwestern United States and tanned in Tennessee.

Destructive pests that cause some $2.5 billion of agricultural damage every year, the beasts are bad, but the leather is great: the hide’s unusually dense fiber structure and combination tannage make a product that’s tough, water resistant, full of character, and unlike anything you’ve owned before.

Testimonials

It looks wonderful and has so much character. Really a first-rate leather

Jan DeWitt

It's a really cool story, how the pigs are taking over, and we're here to stop them and turn them into leather. It's just a really cool concept, and I love this leather.

The grain is insane. Just like the product photo. Definitely a jaw dropper.

David S

"It seems like tough leather and yet has a glove-like softness. Color is wonderful, lots of depth with light highlights.

Karl D

The quality of the tanned leather is fantastic- much better than I ever imagined.
